What does STEAM mean?

S.T.E.A.M.?  What is that? Maybe you are thinking in a special room full of steam where you can relax, but you are wrong because  this new word comes from  STEAM Education   that according to the Institute For Arts Integration " is an approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking " ( https://artsintegration.com/what-is-steam-education-in-k-12-schools/)                                  S for Science                                  T for Technology                                  E for Engineering                           ...

Movie Forum and a new Olympic sport

In this occassion we had to program some extra classes to recover the hours of our Recess week in October, that's why we take advantange of it to generate two different but funny activities to develop in two different moments.

The first one was a Movie forum about the movie "Inside Out - part two", we show the movie in our Bilingualism room, obviously in english language to try to strengthen our listening skills, this could be a difficult activity at the begining but as time goes by and the movie continues, it becomes much easier to understand. This is a very nice activity to develop even at home with our families, it helps us to  improve our listening and vocabulary skills.

Our students enjoy this moment because we share time with all of the bilingual club students and we could eat our favorite snacks during the movie, too. At the end we comented some important aspects about the film and we express our own opinion about it.

Our second activity was a little more physical, as is already known by the students in the Seminarist English Club we try to learn about new and different sports that are practiced around the world, remember that is one of the purposes of the Seminarist English Club to learn some global practices that include different cultures and places.

This time we learnt about a new olympic sport that is practiced in North America and some European countries and will appear as a new sport at the upcoming Olympic Games in Los Angeles, this sport is "Flag-Football" and it was an excellent experience for everyone because we share with people of different ages and genders at the same time, it is possible because is a sport that does not include physical contact and we were able to laugh and share at the end of this nice experience.

Remember that these are some of those experiences that allows us to put into practice our english level in a real and everyday situation in our lives.
